Volunteering Medical Services and Malpractice Liability

Senator Lee Bright (R-Spartanburg) has introduced legislation to allow licensed medical providers who render services voluntarily or without compensation and seeks no reimbursement from charity or government sources to at least 10% of patients in a calendar year shall not be liable in any action for noneconomic damages alleging medical malpractice in an amount that exceeds $250,000. The bill has been referred to the Judiciary Committee.
