Every year, the SCSRC program committee works to develop a theme for the annual state conference held in Myrtle Beach. This year the committee wanted to choose a theme that would echo our State Society's commitment to public service. In light of this, the SCSRC decided that this year's theme was to be "Community Service: RTs helping those in need." Volunteering is the perfect way to feel connected to your community. The simple act of offering your skills and enthusiasm will positively impact the lives of others, as well as your own.
This year, we are asked our state respiratory therapists to participate in a food drive. Donations were collected at the conference by region, and the winner was the Piedmont region!
The SCSRC board wishes to thank all who participated, and there were a lot of you! We were able to present the Horry Lowcountry Food Bank and their director, Mr. Roy Pridgen, with a donation of 322 pounds. Mr. Pridgen stated, "We appreciate this donation! You will not believe how many people this will feed. It is very thoughtful of your organization and we hope will see you again next year. Thank you so much!"
In addition, the Piedmont region donated approximately 1,000 pounds to their area food bank, and the Midlands region donated 32 pounds to Harvest Food Bank. Thank you all for contributing to this year's community service project and proving that respiratory therapists truly have the biggest hearts!
