PRESIDENT: Bryan Leatherwood, MHA, RRT. Bryan started his respiratory career in 2004, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Bryan was chosen in 2007 to help train RT's in Italy at a new joint venture transplant hospital in Palermo. It was a great experience and he met so many wonderful people! Not to mention the food!!! In 2008, Bryan moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where he became the Director of Cardiopulmonary for Tidelands Health System- Waccamaw. In fact, 2015 Bryan's Department won the SCSRC Department of the Year. Such an honor and accomplishment! Bryan moved on to the Cleveland Clinic in Weston Florida in October 2015 to learn some new skills and grow as a therapist. Even though Bryan resides in South Florida, we are honored to have him continue his roll as SCSRC President!
PRESIDENT ELECT: Charlotte Reikofski, MSPH, MPA, RRT. Charlotte became a Registered Respiratory Therapist in 1996. She has held the positions of bedside therapist, Clinical Coordinator, Assistant Manager, Manager, and currently holds the position of Program Coordinator for an Associate Degree Respiratory Care program. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in 2004 in Anthropology with a medical emphasis and a dual Masters degree in 2012, earning a Masters of Science in Public Heath with a Community Health emphasis and and Masters of Public Administration with a Public Policy emphasis. Her interests are interprofessional collaboration, health education outreach, health outcomes improvement, quality, safety, professionalism, and process/project management.
PAST PRESIDENT: Amanda Richter MHA, RRT-NPS, ACCS, RPFT. Amanda has been a respiratory therapist for 12 years, serving in multiple capacities. She’s worked as a staff therapist and RT traveler in many settings as well as hyperbarics, DME, diagnostics, and leadership roles. She received an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care from Midlands Technical College and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Amanda has served the SCSRC for several years including the 2015 President. Although she recently relocated to Texas, SC is her home and Amanda plans to fulfill her term and duties with the SCSRC. She hopes to continue to see the SCSRC and the Respiratory Care profession continue to grow and thrive.
VICE PRESIDENT: Scott M. Lane, RRT, RCP. Scott graduated from the Respiratory Sciences Program at Fresno City College in California in 1981. Since graduation, Scott has been dedicated to the betterment of our respiratory therapy profession and an AARC Member since 1994. Scott's employment history includes staff therapist, manager, ECMO therapist, and presently Director of Respiratory Services for SC Department of Mental Health in Columbia, SC. Our society has benefited from Scott's expertise as Vice President (1985-1986), Midlands Regional Director (1998-1999), President Elect (2000-2001), President (2002-2003), President Elect (2004-2005), President (2005-2006), PACT Co Chair (2000-Present), Disaster Preparedness Co-Chair (2005-Present), Program Committee (2000-Present), Vice President/Program Chair (2015-Present). Outside of Respiratory World, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife, Janice, of 28 years and two children, Alexis and Gregory.
TREASURER: Selma Watson, BA, RRT, CPFT. Selma is a South Carolina native, having grown up in “famously hot Columbia”. Selma holds a Sociology Baccculaureate Degree from the University of South Carolina and an Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy from Midlands Technical College. She is presently employed at Lexington Medical Center since 1983; during employment at LMC, Selma's work experience includes therapist, supervisor, Clinical Diagnostics Specialist, and as Respiratory Care Manager. Selma's current position is in the Information Services department as a Clinical Applications Specialist. Participating in SCSRC Board of Directors since 2000, Selma has served as a board member, Secretary, President-Elect, President and most recently, Treasurer. Selma's consistent dedication to Respiratory Therapy earned her the SCSRC Practitioner of the Year award in 2005 and the SCSRC President’s Award in 2015. Beyond her love for respiratory, Selma enjoys spending time with her husband of almost 30 years, Jolley (yes, that is his real name); they have two children, Rachel, graduate of USC Aiken, and Jonathan, Midlands Technical College student. Selma's four “four-legged” children, kitties Sadie, Daisy, Angel and Diego, bring much enjoyment as well. Also, an asset to SCSRC!
SECRETARY: Jessica Gregorie, BS, RRT. Jessica is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, graduated from Clemson University in 2008 with Health Science BS and minor Athletic Training. She was drawn to the salty, Charleston beaches to continue her educational career at Trident Technical College, completed in 2011. While in school, Jessica maintained full time employment at Medical University of South Carolina working as an assistant in the Physical Therapy Department. Upon graduation, Jessica continued her career at MUSC transitioning to Staff Flex Therapist, NICU Therapist and finally landing her dream job as Director of MUSC’s Pulmonary Rehab Program in 2013. Aside from improving patient’s quality of life, Jessica’s one year old daughter and husband enjoy traveling, boating and beaching!
