2012 PACT TRIP A SUCCESS

By Brooke Yeager on March 12, 2012

First, I want to take a moment and thank the PACT committee and all of you who participated in this year’s congressional letter writing campaign.  The members of the Senate and House that I met with were much more knowledgeable and prepared to discuss the legislation than they were last year.  This is a direct result of the number of letters and emails they received.    As a review, this year we had two specific requests.  First, and most importantly, we requested that the Congress commit

Congressional Letter of Support

By Brooke Yeager on February 27, 2012

Support HR 941 Medicare Respiratory Therapy Initiative Hello All, Yes, it is that time of year again! I will be heading to DC again on March 6th as South Carolina’s Political Action Contact Team (PACT) representative to advocate for all of our wonderful patients. South Carolina Political Action Contact Team (PACT)

The AARC is actively involved in both Federal and State legislative regulatory affairs.  They aggressively advocate for recognition of the value of respiratory therapy and respiratory therapists in all areas of public policy.  This has become of growing concern as health care costs endure increasing scrutiny and the effectiveness of respiratory care in controlling these costs is questioned.

Each state society appoints a member to represent their constituency directly in Washington DC.  This occurs on “Hill Day”, when all of the states’ PACT members travel to DC to meet individually with their representatives in Congress and ask for their support of our legislation.

YOU CAN HELP!

It takes more than one voice to be heard in DC.  This is where you can make a difference and promote your profession.  Please write, email, call, or ask to meet directly with your district’s Representative, and discuss your wish for their support.

A list is provided below of the state’s districts and their elected Congressman.  In addition you will notice that we have District members who you may contact to aid you in communicating with your elected officials.
